Spotlight on Strategic Planning and Development
Syreeta, Founder of The Gates Preserve
Syreeta is an Original
Syreeta cannot be boxed in. She is the founder of the Gates Preserve, an interdisciplinary studio that houses everything including hip hop’s digital archive, a film production house, a food focused event series at the intersection of rap and the culinary arts and most importantly is a hometown hero. A queens native, she reps her birthplace proudly and it is a consistent thread of inspiration for all of her work. She has never done things by the book and continues to push the envelope on what it means to be a culture creator. For her, archiving is a statement of value. Her lifework will preserve hip hop’s metadata and making archiving a consumer practice.
Our Work
Syreeta dreams big. It takes imagination to dream and execution it to live. Big dreams need deliberate and thoughtful planning, constant prioritization and implementation roadmapping. Additionally Syreeta’s approach draws on her deep experience in academia as well as the realities of an ever evolving tech ecosystem. Bridging the gap between these worlds requires care. Our work has ramped up in recent years focusing on the delivery and defense of a masters thesis that would be the foundation of the business plan for The Gates Preserve. Our work continues as Syreeta steps steadily down the path of documenting hip hop culture.
